Living off the grid

Its impossible to live 100% off the grid today. If you own land, you're paying taxes, so even if you're entirely self-sufficient, you're still paying 'rent' to the government. There's virtually nowhere in the world you can just go live freely, except maybe by joining a lost tribe in the Amazon or New Guinea. You can't go out into the Canadian bush or mountains, build a cabin and hunt or forage for food without being accosted by authorities. In most places, you can't feed yourself by fishing or hunting without a license.

Is anyone here living partially off the grid? I'd like to hear your story.
